Ranking my own websites

I love this time of year. With many of my clients on holiday, I get to work on some focused projects and wrap up the year. Right now, I'm deep into building two Shopify websites and creating landing pages for a few wedding clients. January is the busiest month for the wedding, so setting up effective Google Ad landing pages is crucial. It's a hustle, but I thrive in it.

The Joy of Acquiring New Domains

Every week, I pick up new domains. These are my properties; my business partner constantly tells me off for buying too many. But I can't help it; I build them out and let them marinate in Google. I've recently picked up domains in the double-glazed window space, exercise physiology, and other interesting niches. Each new domain is an opportunity to test the waters and see how quickly I can get leads.

The Satisfaction of Building and Ranking Websites

As a dad who broke free from the traditional 9-to-5 grind, I've found joy and fulfilment in building and ranking websites. I've spent over 20,000 hours doing this, which never gets old. There's something incredibly satisfying about seeing a website climb the Google rankings, knowing that I had a hand in its success.

Strategies for Testing and Ranking

One of the reasons I build so many sites is to test how easy it is to rank in different spaces. Before I push traffic to potential clients, I want to prove that I can dominate that niche. Sometimes, I flip the sites for a profit, or I use them to generate leads that I can sell. Other times, I use the SEO juice these sites accumulate to power up my client domains. You can do a lot with a top-ranking website, and it's a great way to push competitors further down the page.

Launching CMO Eugene

I also run a lot of Google Ad campaigns and Facebook Ad campaigns. Soon, I'll be starting a new channel called CMO Eugene. On this channel, I'll share my insights about the industry, rant about the things that bother me, and provide tips for small businesses on how to get more leads and improve their Google rankings. It will be a laid-back, fun project, and I can't wait to start.

Mastering the Art and Science of SEO

Building and ranking websites is both an art and a science. It requires a deep understanding of Google's algorithm, considering factors like mobile-friendliness, page speed, and user experience. Regularly updating content and acquiring high-quality backlinks are crucial. I've learned that targeting the right keywords can make or break your ranking efforts, and on-page optimization is essential for improving search visibility. A strong internal linking structure enhances site navigation and SEO performance, and long-tail keywords can attract more targeted traffic, improving conversion rates.

Balancing Work and Family Life

Balancing work and family life can be challenging for a dad, but it's incredibly rewarding. I've created a lifestyle that allows me to spend quality time with my kids while doing what I love. Running digital marketing agencies and constantly building and ranking websites keeps me busy, but it also provides the flexibility I need as a parent.

Achieving Success and Freedom

Breaking free to do what you love requires dedication and a strategic approach. Whether building and ranking websites, running ad campaigns, or sharing insights with others, the journey is filled with learning and growth. By staying informed and adapting to industry changes, I've succeeded and enjoyed the freedom of doing what I love.
